Lego man in space: one (very) small step

Two teenagers from Toronto sent a Lego man carrying a Canadian flag into the stratosphere. Mathew Ho and Asad Muhammad, both 17, attached four cameras to a balloon carrying the toy astronaut 24km above Earth. A week after launch they recovered their Lego man in a field, and discovered they had captured stunning space footage

Just received the following from the Travelteq Team:
Travelteq is an Amsterdam-based company. Everyday we use our bicycle to get to the Travelteq office. For us Dutch people, biking has been our daily transport for as long as we can remember. In fact, there are more bicycles than people in this city. In the past years we’ve noticed that bicycles are changing. People have been taking much more care into choosing the kind of bike they are riding. The bike has become an accessory of our personal style, much like a laptop bag.

Here at Travelteq we decided we wanted to create a unique bicycle, made by hand in Italy. A beautiful, high quality bike for riding in the city, with the best leather details. We’ve found a very special bike manufacturer, Cicli Maestro. The people at Cicli Maestro were born and raised in Milan, the city of italian design, and also the homeground to so many frame builders, bicycle manufacturers and their unique, amazing creations. Cicli Maestro’s love for bicycles, their experience and their great craftmanship are the foundations of their company. We decided to join forces and create a special collaboration. Together with Cicli Maestro we made a singlespeed bike, equipped with either a coaster brake, so you can choose to go freewheel. The steel frame – the true soul of the bike – is hand made not far from Milan, and as many components as possible are sourced in Italy. Otherwise, the people at Cicli Maestro find the best products in the world – they go to Birmingham in England for traditionally made Brooks leather saddles, for instance. It’s the beauty of a naked bike: clean, lightweight, with timeless lines and an amazing ease of maintenance.

Together we created an ivory-colored bike in true Travelteq style, that’s only available through Travelteq. Also the leather saddle is from Brooks, as there is no one in the world that makes better saddles. We offer two types of Italian leather handlebars. One for the city, and one more sportive. The price of the bicycle is €850. Delivery time is about one month. Enjoy the ride! The Travelteq TeamJoin us on

Maybe I’ll get this as a Special Day or birthday present. =)

Star Wars Uncut: Director’s Cut

In 2009, Casey Pugh asked thousands of Internet users to remake “Star Wars: A New Hope” into a fan film, 15 seconds at a time. Contributors were allowed to recreate scenes from Star Wars however they wanted. Within just a few months SWU grew into a wild success. The creativity that poured into the project was unimaginable.”

KABOOM

Woke up at the crack of dawn on Sunday, biked to the Texas Med Center, partook in some hooliganry, and waited on fog to clear (for 3 hours) because we wanted to watch shit implode. We got rained on, and finally decided to bike back home. We were watching the live feed but ended up missing the damn thing while the feed automatically refreshed itself. Either way this is what it looked like.

Joe Black Made in China – a reworking of the Robert Capa photograph that graced the January 1938 cover of LIFE magazine, displaying a young Chinese soldier, a participant in the Sino Japanese war. Ironically (and intentionally) enough, the toy soldiers used are all ‘Made in China,’ hence the work’s ever so appropriate title.
